Guests will soon be able to skip the lines and enjoy the convenience of digital
check-in and mobile keys, using their own phone.


Zaplox AB (publ) (“Zaplox”), which offers a mobile guest journey and mobile keys for a safe, secure, and engaging guest experience, signed an agreement earlier this year with the international hotel and hospitality management company PREM Group, which is headquartered in Ireland and operates multiple businesses across Europe. The agreement includes delivery of Zaplox Mobile Guest App Premium 3 that will enable a mobile guest journey with digital check-in and mobile keys at 25 PREM Group properties in the United Kingdom, Ireland, Belgium and the Netherlands, including a total of 1,602 rooms. The PREM Group agreement is a result of Zaplox’s focus on expanding the company’s presence in Europe.

Soon, PREM Group hotel and serviced apartments will offer a new custom-branded guest app for check-in and checkout, and guests who download the app will be able to use their phone as a mobile key to unlock their door and access other facilities at the property. This means guests no longer have to wait in line to check in or get their key. Instead, guests use the app to check in and the digital room key becomes available directly in the app. The digital key can safely and easily be shared electronically with guests on the same reservation. The Zaplox Mobile Guest App integrates with Oracle Opera PMS and the property’s electronic door lock system from ASSA ABLOY.

Contactless check-in and mobile keys now available via hotel branded mobile guest app

As consumer demand for travel and hospitality returns, hotels are facing staff shortages while trying to meet guests’ expectations on high quality service, but with less physical contact with the staff. Following this new market opportunity, Maestro PMS teamed up with Zaplox to offer a contactless guest journey, in which Maestro’s Mobile Check-in module has been fully integrated with Zaplox Mobile Key App to allow guests to use their phone for pre-registration and check-in, as well as a mobile key.

Myrtle Beach Seaside Resorts with a total of 775 rooms at six luxury oceanfront condo hotel properties on the South Carolina coast is the first customer to roll out the fully integrated mobile guest journey from Maestro and Zaplox. The guest receives a notification from Maestro PMS to complete their digital registration and check-in, all from their own personal mobile device.  Once they have registered and if the room is ready, they are directed to push a button and download their mobile key, which the guest then can use to access the room. During the stay, guests can also use the custom branded app from Zaplox to learn more about the resort’s amenities and service offerings. In addition, the resort can use the app to present personalized offers and special promotions directly to the guests.

Currently, this end-to-end mobile guest journey is live at the Avista Resort with 329 rooms, and the solution will subsequently be rolled out at the remaining five properties, including Grande Shores Ocean Resort in Myrtle Beach, Prince Resort, Seaside Resort, Towers at North Myrtle Beach, and The Horizon at 77th.

The new contactless guest journey reduces physical contact while speeding up the check-in process and providing new sales and marketing opportunities. Guests appreciate the convenience of using their phone to fully manage their stay and the resort can expect to free up staff for more revenue-generating tasks. As guests, have the option to pre-register and check-in before arrival, the hotel staff can be more proactive and handle guest requests pre-arrival.

Bay View Suites, with 240 rooms, is scheduled to open in the beginning of 2022.

In strong competition, Zaplox has signed an agreement with the software giant Google. Zaplox will deliver a mobile key app solution to Google’s new Bay View Suites, a short-term employee accommodation (STEA), near Googleplex, the headquarters of Google and their parent company Alphapet Inc. in Mountain View on the US West Coast. Google has approximately 20,0000 employees working at or near Google’s headquarters. When the accommodation is completed, it will be one of the first of Google’s own and have 240 rooms. Googleemployees will be able to open their guest room door using a mobile key located in the company’s mobile guest app.

The mobile key app solution is tailored for Google’s short-term employee accommodation and delivered in integration with Stayntouch PMS and dormakaba lock system. In the future, the mobile key app solution can, if required, be used in Google’s other short-term employee accommodations.
